This book tells the story of the people behind the high quality coffee beans of Janson Estate. That's where the coffee beans of Bagels & Beans come from. The book shows the life of the people who are behind these high quality coffee beans. The people who pick, dry and process the beans – by hand, and with love and respect for nature.

Janson Estate is located in the area traditionally inhabited by the Ngäbe, a colourful indigenous group that has survived in the face of Spanish colonial rule. The women mostly wear brightly coloured dresses known as naguas, decorated with geometric patterns or dientes, which represent mountains, animal teeth, the ow of the river or dragon scales.

Photographer Yasmijn Tan has brilliantly captured precisely that element of the coffeefarm.  It is the pure, unembellished story of a country whose colour, scent, and taste we are able to experience every single day, even though it’s 7,500km away from us. Sometimes reality is even better than the most beautiful dream.
